So what’s this all about?

This blog is about Michelle, Dave (me) and our team, “Whiskey Riders,” as we prepare for and participate in RAGBRAI this summer.

Basically, we hope to tell stories about our cycling and RAGBRAI experiences, share any tips we learn along the way and have some fun with it all.

Don’t let the name “Whiskey Riders” fool you: the team we’re on is not that crazy. (At least Michelle and I aren’t.) We’re cyclists first and foremost, but we like to have fun too. (Last year was my first time doing RAGBRAI as part of Whiskey Riders; the team’s been around longer than that and Michelle will fill you in on it later.)

I’d say we’re avid cyclists. Not competitive, not leisurely. We’ll enter a local race for fun (like Jinglecross in Iowa City), knowing full well that we won’t get a spot on the podium unless there’s only three people in the race.

We met at work when I saw her X01 on her computer screen one day and asked her if that was a cyclocross bike. From there, our friendship quickly became dialed in.

Here’s a video of our RAGBRAI adventures last year. Hopefully we’ll have a lot more videos, pictures and stories this time around. Enjoy, and ride on! -DAVE
